The Reading Cat

No Foolin'

No Foolin' - Lisa Scott
Did the book description relate to the story? Yes, and it was refreshing to actually read a description. My book club members and I have noticed several books that have little or no description and it spoils the discovery of a good (or bad) read. In this case, the author's description is to the point and gives a good feel of the story.

How did you feel about the opening / ending sequences of the book? I liked the beginning sequence more than the ending. The ending was somewhat expected but the beginning was interesting with the author giving each character a different layer for the reader to discover.

Who was your favourite character and why? Tough choice. But I'm going to go for Kate. She's simple in some ways and complicated in others. She seems to push and pull what she wants and it can be irritating but it makes for a great read.

What were the main relationships explored in this book? Honesty to self. The two main characters have their judgement clouded by what other people think of them, they each forget what they actually want and need for themselves.

Was this book worth reading? Yes, and I would definitely recommend this book to others. Excellent writing.

Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.
